#WeekInReview, March 31-April 7

Blog/April 7, 2017

For our site visitors who aren’t yet following us on Twitter or Facebook – here are some highlights from the past week on social media from Veterans Matter.

We…

…Helped house 7 more veterans March 31. One of the veterans was found sleeping in his car in the Wal-Mart parking lot a week ago and we were able to get the veteran into a hotel for a week, thanks to the Lucas County Veterans Service Commission. And today, this same veteran got his apartment deposit check hand delivered to him by Shawn Clark of Veterans Matter!

…Attended the graduation ceremony for the third graduating class at the Cherry Street Mission Ministries Life Revitalization Center. Two of our housed veterans graduated today and one already has a job – thanks to Dan Rogers dream.

… Started off April, the Month of the Military Child by remembering we are not only housing veterans – we are housing families, some of those with children. The military child is brave and adaptive, and we need to support them as well! So be sure to #PurpleUp this month and celebrate the children of our nation’s heroes.

… Reminded our local friends in Toledo of the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon coming up on April 23rd. If you’d like to volunteer contact veronica@veteransmatter.org and if you’d still like to support a fundraiser go to https://runsignup.com/Race/22766/Charity/4141

… Celebrated Gold Star Wives Day by honoring a good friend and amazing person, Veterans Matter own Veronica Mora.

… Announced to all Disco-Party-Goers, the Summer Disco Party VIP Tables are available. Perks include: 10 tickets, complimentary bottle of champagne, private full-service cash bar (first two rounds for your entire party on us!), and your name on the VIP sponsor banner. Contact disco@veteransmatter.org for yours today!

All in all, it was a good week! Have a great weekend and let’s keep housing our heroes!
