On September 10th, Third Street Cigar hosted a fundraising event which helped to house 11 Veterans and their families.

Third Street Cigar, owned by Bob Howell, John Henry, and Dan Cassavar, has been a staple of downtown Waterville. The shop features premium cigar and pipe tobacco products. Over the years, the owners have supported not only the community, but national issues close to their hearts. Our homeless Veterans was one such issue they knew they had to do something about.

The event was kicked off as Sheriff John Tharp presented a check for $1,000 on behalf of the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office.

As the aroma of cigars filled the air along with live jazz music and smell of fresh grilled cheeseburgers wafted by, one thing stuck out: love for our Veteran Heroes.

Following a raffle with donations from Eric Reimer and his shop, Hall of Framers in Waterville, Ohio, the total money raised was counted. With the support of so many people and businesses, the event raised enough to help house 11 Veteran Heroes and their families.

On behalf of the Veterans who will be moved from cardboard to headboard, we say THANK YOU! Thank you for caring about our homeless Veterans as much as we do.
